Pre CNY Friday (Fright day!)

CNY holidays was filled with lots of ups and downs, but I'm so glad it ended on a good note!

It started horribly. I took the day off on Friday so I could go back earlier and avoid the rush home. Somehow, my neighbors were in some sort of rampant mode as well and boy were they making a monkey of themselves. I wasn't able to sleep well even though I tried to sleep at around 12AM+. I ended up having to wake up again at around 2+ and later 4+. And for God knows what reason, although it was quiet, i woke up again around 5+!!!! Well, since I agreed to set off at 7AM, i woke up at 6+ to get myself ready. After meeting up with Kao Ren, we went for breakfast and decided to take something from my house. Thats when the blur me reversed my car and accidently bang into another person's car. (It is officially my first accident with REAL damage). Yeah well, the damage wasn't so bad, it was just a dent on his car and mine, so I gave him my namecard, told him to fix it, keep the receipt and call me when his done so I can compensate. Luckily enough, he seems like a decent guy (he was with mommy =X).

When I reached back to JB, had to help mummy run errands since she fractured her right hand and couldn't use it. It was here that I met another small accident. This time it was people who bang me! -_-" It was the road between Leisure Mall and Maybank. Lots of cars parked by the road side and as I was trying to squeeze in, this other car also just squeezed in. He drove pretty quickly and hit my side mirrors and just drove off! Luckily, its just some scratches, nothing serious...

Now my car has this little dent at the back, and naked wheels! Yeah....
All protons come with this stock black rim's with plastic covers to cover the ugly rim. So yeah, initially my plastic cover on my right wheel dropped off, but when I came back to work, I manage to find it down the hill at INTI. So I took it back, and had my mechanic tie a string so it won't drop off. But oh well, maybe my wheels were feeling too hot and insisted on stripping... So my left wheels decided to throw his cover away and it was never to be found again....

I decided to grant my wheels their wish, and stripped of all 4 wheels of their clothes. Now their all naked and black. Looks a little ugly though.. now considering if I should get new rim's, or wait till my next tyre change, or just leave it as it is. I'll need to think about it... hmph...

I had a great "Sec Sch Gang" reunion dinner on Saturday, but I'll blog about it another day! ^_^

Kina Grannis

My buddy Kao Ren introduced this girl to me, Kina Grannis. Heard a few songs from her, got a great voice, but this one in particular, is my favourite. ^_^

Ignore the song she's playing at the beginning. This song is called Stay Just A Little.

Lyrics to the song below:
I heard it in your voice when your love died
On a telephone connection spanning miles and miles of wire
You said it was over and then cried and cried
You were gone before I said goodbye

I don't like to think that it is true
That distance came between us like a knife and cut right through
When did we go wrong and let it all undo?
The only one I ever loved was you.

Would you stay just a little, my love?
Would you sway just a little my love?
Because the hole in the middle of my heart needs filling up
If you stay just a little, that's enough.

It kills me as I lay awake at night
Remembering the last kiss that we shared doesn't feel right
Is it impossible for me to win this fight
Keep you a little longer in my life?

Would you stay just a little, my love?
Would you sway just a little my love?
Because the hole in the middle of my heart needs filling up
If you stay just a little, that's enough.

Going Banana's!

A professor at CCNY for a physiological psych class told his class about bananas. He said the expression 'going bananas' is from the effects of bananas on the brain. Read on:

Never, put your banana in the refrigerator!!!

This is interesting.
After reading this, you'll never look at a banana in the same way again.
Bananas contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber. A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy.
Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes.

But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.

Depression: According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.

PMS: Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.

Anemia : High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia.

Blood Pressure: This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it perfect to beat blood pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.

Brain Power: 200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school ( England ) were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.

Constipation: High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.

Hangovers: One of the quickestways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey.. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.

Heartburn: Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.

Morning Sickness: Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.

Mosquito bites: Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.

Nerves: Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system.
Overweight and at work? Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and chips. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels steady.

Ulcers: The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.

Temperature control: Many other cultures see bananas as a 'cooling' fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. In Thailand , for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): Bananas can help SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood enhancer tryptophan.

Smoking & Tobacco Use: Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6, B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.

Stress: Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be rebalanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack.

Strokes: According to research in The New England Journal of Medicine, eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by as much as 40%!

Warts: Those keen on natural alternatives swear that if you want to kill off a wart, take a piece of banana skin and place it on the wart, with the yellow side out. Carefully hold the skin in place with a plaster or surgical tape!

So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills.. When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around So maybe its time to change that well-known phrase so that we say, 'A banana a day keeps the doctor away!'

PS: Bananas must be the reason monkeys are so happy all the time! I will add one here; want a quick shine on our shoes?? Take the INSIDE of the banana skin, and rub directly on the shoe...polish with dry cloth. Amazing fruit !!!

A buggy encounter at work...

I had a buggy encounter at work on Tuesday morning. Since i slept a little earlier the previous day, I woke up a little earlier as well. So I headed down to work, a little earlier than usual and hmph... for the first time, I was earlier than most of my colleagues. LOL!

As I walked towards my cubicle, I heard some buzzing sound and began looking around.. Then I notice this little fella buzzing around the lights above me... Alright, its a bee. What on earth was a bee doing in the office? God knows... So being a little paranoid about bees (I don't have very good records with them...), I kept looking at it to make sure it ain't coming anywhere near me. After observing it for about 5 minutes, it decided to venture somewhere else. Feeling relieved, I turned back to face my laptop and log in...

After some time, I have totally forgotten about the bee, probably too busy reading my massive amount of emails. While I was typing an email, I felt something on my neck. A natural human reaction is to use your hand to touch what it is right? So yeah, I used my left hand to try to touch and feel what it is and in a split second, I jumped out and screamed in pain. It was the darn bee! It stung my poor left hand thumb!!!!

Gheesh, damn the stupid bee... It made me hate bees EVEN MORE. It hurt so much at one point my finger felt numb... but oh well.. its been a day and no allergic reaction yet so I'm fine. Maybe its because of the allergy pills that the company panel doctor gave. LOL.

Anyway, i HATE BEES! Hate em! Damn the bees. =P

I'm still wondering what the hell was a bee doing in the office.... -_-"

Back in nilai

I'm back in nilai again.... sigh....
Driving through INTI, and back towards the apartments.. I'm once again greeted by the all so familiar environment that I have never learned to like... Filthy streets... garbage collection points by the road sides and.... lots of dark foreigners loitering around the streets and driving cars around like as though this is some rally....

Anyway, apart from killing breeding mosquitoes in my toilet and unpacking some of my stuffs, I'm too tired to do the rest and will do it tomorrow...

Its back to work tomorrow, my first working day for the year 2009. I wonder how it'll be like and would I be too busy to blog often again! =)

Reflecting on the year 2008

I kinda have this habit of reflecting on the year that has just passed me by. Time and tide waits for no man, and the year 2008 has ended just like that. It is amazing just to think about the series of events that has happened in the year 2008 and how one was able to pull through it even though at the moment of incident one thought everything is just about to crash and burn...

2008 has been the most eventful year that I have personally gone through after suriving thus far for 22 and a half years. It has been tough and challenging both mentally and physically with ups and downs from all the major aspects of my life. Work for one, reached its toll towards the 2nd half of the year and caused my capacity to reach beyond its current limit with damaging effects. It has been a rather disappointing and awful year for me. Apart from a few things, almost every other thing went against my way.

It even went down to the point that a number of people were telling that I look very stressed up or down or some even went to the point of saying "hey, this isn't like you at all...". I kinda have this habbit of worrying over far too many things and far too many people and sometimes, things and people that I shouldn't even be wasting my time and emotional energy worrying about. Lots of fear has also crept over me in the year. I bet it came together with the worries, LOL!!! I guess one of my goals for this year is to worry less!!! =)

But I guess the year is over and I want to leave all those bad and painful experiences behind. Looking at the brighter side, I have learned a lot about growing up and life as an adult, the difficulties, challenges and the possible hiccups that would occur to hamper your goals and objectives that you have set for yourself.

2008 was also a year of discovery. Perhaps my uni years has been too brightly litted up as all the hard work that I put in reaped delightful results. In 2008 however, I realized that not all the time when you give in your 100%, you'll get back a 100%. Its true that this is something that I have already known since last time, but the hard part is not that sometimes you don't even get back 50% or nothing, it is when what you get back is negative. I guess this is something you experience quite commonly especially in career life. =)

It was also in 2008 that I discovered the depth of some of my weaknesses and other new weaknesses that I have yet to know in the earlier days of my life. Perhaps God allowed many things to happen in order for me to learn about my weaknesses in preparation to mold me to become a better person for the future. We would never know what God has in mind set out for us and why God allow things to happen. But one thing for sure we can know is that whatever that God does, it is for a positive end.

On a positive note, all the experiences and things that I've discovered and learned would certainly carry me forward and move on to the year 2009 and beyond. Though not expecting any lack of challenges, difficulties and new discoveries, hopefully the year 2009 will see me having more positive days than the year 2008.

As for my new year resolution for the year 2009, let me sit down and think about it more. =)

And to all my loved and treasured ones and great buddies out there (you all know who you are!), thanks a lot for being there for me at various low points of my life in 2008. I bet it has been an eye opener for some of you. =P

Let us move on to 2009 keeping the bond there and tighter and never forgetting each other.

For my brothers, our world may seem to crumble and fall, we may be separated by the miles, mountains, hills and the waters, but we will always be brothers for life!

Happy New Year 2009

A very happy new year 2009 to all my friends, families, blog readers, visitors, passer by's, google web spiders, other search engine's spiders, viruses, worms, trojans, hackers, crackers, whatever. =P
