Own an Epiphone? Ever wondered if your Epiphone was really made in Korea or China? Well, if your Epiphone doesn't even have a serial number, mwahahha, you probably landed yourself on a fake or a replica. Anyway, check your serial numbers and it should tell you where it is manufactured from using the following codes:
KOREA: I= Saein,U=Unsung,S=Samick,P or R=Peerless
CHINA: DW=DeaWon,EA=Gibson/QingDao,EE=Gibson/QingDao,MC=Muse,SJ=SaeJung,Z=Zaozhuang Saehan,BW=China
JAPAN: No letter or F=FujiGen,J or T=Terada
INDONESIA: SI=Samick
Example: U8034853
U=Unsung,8=1998,03=March,4853=manufacturing number.
If yours has 8 digits, the first 2 digits is the year. Usually, its something like 08 or 07 (2008 or 2007)
I'm so glad mines a genuine Korean Epiphone. =)

I have what appears to be an Epiphone Emperor II but with the 3-way switch down on the cutout. The only serial number I can find is written with red ink down inside one of the f-holes, "16663". Because there is no letter, does this mean the guitar was made in Japan???
I'm not sure bro. Your's don't seem to have sufficient digits.. Not sure if that is really the serial numbers. LOL!!

hi i just bought mine in march 2011. the number goes like 10111511942. any idea where its made?
Hi GRENN. Your serial number means the following. First 2 digits = year, next 2 digits = the month, 15 signifies the factory (15 is a China made electric)and the rest is the order of manufacture. So yours was made Nov 2010 in the Chinese Epiphone factory. Hope that helps mate, Scotty
